RECRUITMENT OF ASSISTANT TET TEACHERS, 2020

(FOR RECRUITMENT OF ASSISTANT TEACHERS 
FROM ASSAM TET QUALIFIED CANDIDATES)


 With a view to support, strengthen and improve the quality of Elementary Education in the State of Assam in 
compliance with the Right to Education Act,2009 and with a view to ensure availability of teachers in Lower 
Primary and Upper Primary Schools of Assam especially in high pupil-teacher ratio (PTR) schools of remote and 
isolated areas, Online Applications are hereby invited in prescribed format from the permanent resident of 
Assam qualified in Assam TET conducted by Elementary Education Department, Assam for filling up of following 
posts of Assistant Teachers at Lower Primary and Upper Primary School on contractual basis under the Axom 
Sarba Siksha Abhiyan Mission as shown in the tables below. Category wise number of vacancies may increase 
or vary due to resultant vacancies to be aroused from ongoing regular teacher engagement process under
Directorate of Elementary Education. No separate advertisement will be published afterwards in case the number 
of vacancies increase. 
The posts are mainly available in remote areas of Assam and the interested candidates must be 
physically and mentally ready to serve in these remote areas in terms of choice of their districts. 
 This has the approval of the Education Department, Government of Assam.

Criteria:
1. Minimum age is 18 years for all candidates and maximum age is 40 years for unreserved category, 43 
years for OBC/MOBC and 45 years for SC/ST(P)/ST(H) and 50 years for Persons with Disability (PwD) 
as on 1st January’2020 as per Government Office Memorandum vide NoABP.6/2016/51, dated 
02.09.2020. This relaxation shall be applicable only to those candidates who have attained the 
necessary educational or other qualifications prior to crossing of their existing upper age limit of 40 
years. 
2. The eligible candidates shall apply online in the website https://ssa.assam.gov.in from 10:00 AM of 
27/09/2020 to midnight of 11/10/2020. No offline application will be received.
3. A candidate can apply only for one post in one district mentioned above. Not following this 
criterion will lead to cancellation of candidature forthwith. 
4. The Online Applications and documents submitted by the candidates will be verified using modern 
technology ensuring genuineness of the uploaded documents. Back office verification by the competent 
Board/Council/University/Authority etc. will also be done as well. Moreover the authority if felt 
necessary may conduct physical verification of document at any point of time through Public Notice. In 
case any candidate found to be absent on the specific date and time, his/her candidature will be 
cancelled without assigning any reason thereof. 
5. The candidates must ensure genuineness of all the information/documents uploaded against the online 
application and he/she will be solely responsible for the information/documents uploaded against his/her 
online application. Once uploaded there will be no scope for correction in respect of the credential 
submitted by the candidate. Any discrepancy will lead to cancellation of the candidature. 
6. The candidature will be cancelled forthwith, if any kind of fraudulence/discrepancy regarding any 
information/documents uploaded by the candidate is established by appropriate authority at any point of 
time. In case of detection of any false information/claim by the candidate or any ineligibility of the
candidate at any time in terms of this advertisement (even after appointment as Assistant Teacher), 
his/her candidature will be cancelled/service will be terminated without assigning any reason thereof. 
Subsequent legal action will also be initiated against such candidate.
7. The regular or contractual teachers working in Lower Primary schools are not allowed to apply any 
posts in Lower Primary schools. The regular or contractual teachers working in Upper Primary schools 
are not allowed to apply any posts in Upper Primary schools. However, regular and contractual Lower 
Primary teachers if otherwise eligible may apply in Upper Primary schools.

10. In conformity with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 and in compliance to the Elementary 
Education Department, Government of Assam letter No. PMA.160/2018/176, dated 2nd November’2018; 
it is specified that the reservation for Persons with Disabilities(PwD/PH) will be as per norms and for the 
following categories: 
(A) blindness and low vision. 
(B) deaf and hard of hearing and 
(C) locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and 
muscular dystrophy. 
11. There shall be reservation of post for OBC/MOBC/SC/ST(P)/ST(H)/EWS/PwD/Women etc. as per 
existing Government norms. 
12. There shall be reservation/relaxation for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) as per Government 
Notification vide No. ABP.07/2019/4, dated 10.04.2019. 
13. The candidate who has completed the 18 month D.El.Ed. course from the NIOS (ODL) will be treated at 
par and equal with the other candidates who have completed the 2 year D.El.Ed. course for the purpose 
of this recruitment process. 
14. The candidates having qualified in Assam TET for Lower Primary School and Graduation or Post 
Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education(B.Ed.) can also apply for the post of 
Assistant Teacher in Lower Primary School but the person so appointed shall mandatorily undergo a 
six-month bridge course in Elementary Education recognized by the NCTE within two years of such 
appointment as Assistant Teacher-LP. This is in conformity with the NCTE norms. 
15. The teachers will be posted in the schools having the medium of instruction as per the Language-I of 
the candidate in the TET. 
16. Only Bengali/Hmar/Manipuri/Hindi medium TET qualified candidates will be eligible to apply in the posts 
of Barak Valley districts viz. Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi. 
17. The Contractual teachers will get all facilities including leave & other allowances as per Government 
norms. However they have to sign an agreement with the Mission Director, SSA where all service 
conditions will be mentioned. Copy of such agreement can be seen in the official website of SSA, 
Assam. 
18. The teachers (Contractual), so selected will have no claim for any appointment whatsoever against any 
regular vacancy or permanent absorption in the school or in the Education Department in future. 
19. Selection Process: 
Separate Merit list will be published for each district. The selection of the candidates shall be strictly in 
order of merit following procedure as per Government norms. Marks will be allocated as follows:
1. HSSLC or its equivalent* -100
2. Assam TET for LPS* -100
3.NCTE Notified Professional Qualification(2 Year D.El.Ed. or B.Ed. etc)* -100
4. NCC: 10 marks for NCC ‘C’ Certificate or 5 marks for NCC ‘B’ Certificate- 10
5 .Sports (participation in recognized sports at National Level representing 
Assam) -10
6. Achievement in Fine Arts and Cultural activities (representing the State 
officially at National Level)-10
Maximum Marks -330
* Marks will be in proportion to the percentage of marks secured in the examination; for example, if a
candidate secures 54 % aggregate marks in HSSLC examination, he/she shall be given 54 marks for 
the HSSLC examination. 
N.B. Any other marks obtained in other examinations such as HSLC or equivalent, Post Graduation and 
other Professional Qualification not mentioned in the Notifications of NCTE will not be considered.

- Before submission, the system will ask, whether the submitted information is correct or not. A 
confirmation question will appear before final submission which should be confirmed to submit the on-
line application. Without confirmation, the application will not be accepted by the system and as a 
result the application will not be considered as valid. Candidates can modify the entered data before 
final confirmation and submission. After submitting the information in the on-line form, the candidate must 
get the print out of the application form on A4 size paper.

21. Important points:
i. Candidates are requested to confirm their eligibility before submitting online application. 
ii. Candidates should be very cautious while submitting the on line application form as once the online 
application is submitted against a particular Roll number of Assam TET, he/ she will not be allowed to
submit the online application form for second time.
iii. After submitting the online application form, the candidate will get a Unique Number against the submitted 
application. The candidate should keep the record of the Unique Number for all future reference. 
iv. The Office will not be responsible for any lapse in submission of online application due to any technical 
problem. No request will be considered in this regard. 
v. Incomplete/ defective/ invalid application will be summarily rejected. Online Application received without 
uploading of required documents will also be summarily rejected.
